![]() ![]() Where most are going to be looking to Rezurrection to determine whether it’s worth the 1200 MS Point price tag is the new map, Moon. Set on an abandoned (or is it?) space station, Moon uses low gravity, sci-fi weaponry, and new astronaut enemies to create a creepy “zombies in space” atmosphere. There’s a storyline at play - gamers will finally complete Richtofen’s grand scheme - which will lead to a very hard to obtain Easter Egg, but Moon is really all about playing with some new toys. These two new weapons, the Wave Gun and the Quantum Entanglement Device, will make zombie killing much more satisfying and exciting to watch. If you’ve ever thought that a military-based FPS could do with some ray guns, now’s your chance to see your dreams come true.Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection is nothing if not a mark of how far this series has travelled. From its early roots in Medal of Honor and a more 'realistic' approach to the historical FPS, through Modern Warfare's futureshock-cum-Bond and finally to Nazi zombies. In that context the zombie mode, exclusive to Treyarch's COD games, seems ridiculous. It's also arguably Treyarch's greatest original contribution to the series, which is not intended as mean praise: the zombies maps, which Rezurrection brings to a total of ten, are surprisingly diverse and the mode itself scratches an itch that 'proper' COD multiplayer never quite reaches. It's said so often about COD that it's become a cliché, but the team deathmatches can often feel like free-for-alls with the score yoked together at the end. Central principles of its system, like the XP rewards, directly encourage lone wolves - a problem not unique to COD, but certainly one that's pronounced by the series. Zombies sets four players against a never-ending horde of AI shamblers, and in that single stroke forces the outnumbered to stay together. It's the perfect mode for playing with mates rather than randoms, but even with the latter the circumstances dictate working together. Though the three Black Ops DLC packs prior to Rezurrection have contained a zombie map each, this is the first dedicated zombie map pack. With that said, I say this is one of the better maps, because of the simplicity and amount of things you can do while playing it.That minor landmark is one indication of how far the series has travelled. That's not to say it's confusing though, because this map is surprisingly easy to navigate despite its size. I think it's such a great incentive to be able to upgrade your weapons, because saving money is hard! This map is huge and set in the streets of Germany. Last of the World at War maps is Der Riese, and finally we have a pack-a-punch room. Again, no pack-a-punch to upgrade your weapons, but still a lot of fun to play, because you do have rounds that don't feel like the same thing over and over again. Shi No Numa has you set in a jungle-like swamp, and it, unlike the other two maps I mentioned, has a lot of different paths and much less linear overall layout. Still, that is excusable, because this map's design, I say, is one of the best. ![]() Perks are in this map, but still feels a bit dated because of no pack-a-punch. It's whole lot of fun to play, because zombies come at a very quick pace, and the map is big but never confusing. The map is very basic - you're in a building with two floors and you can run around the building in circles. Verrückt is the next map out of the four, and I somehow enjoyed very much. Just a suggestion: What would have been cool is if some of the older glitches for this map that were later patched were included in this latest version of the map. With the lack of some of the more fun weapons and features seen in just about every other zombie map, there is really nothing to be done here. It is as simple as a zombie map can get, and the only reason this map is worth revisiting should be out of pure nostalgia. ![]() Compared to the maps that have come out and even the ones that are included on the Black Ops disc, this map is very dated. Nacht der Üntoten is the original zombie map, and the beginning of all of this zombie craziness. ![]()
